Industry Veteran Launches Marine Consulting
Firm
Stephen Bunnell Brings 30 Years of Expertise to Private
Practice
CAMDEN, MEStephen Bunnell, a marine professional
since 1972, has established Bunnell Marine Consulting, a new company
located in Camden, Maine. Bunnell brings decades of experience into
this full-service firm, offering consulting for boatyards and marinas
on all aspects of business building, management, human resources, facility
assessment, pricing structures, and expert-witness services. Bunnell
Marine Consulting is also offering pre-purchase and insurance marine-surveying
services.
"I'm eager to use my experience to help marine businesses
meet the challenges unique to our industry," says Bunnell of his
new endeavor. "By working on either a single-project basis or in
a longer-term relationship, I'll help owners and managers find solutions
to their administration and compliance issues."
Bunnell is affiliated with several industry associations,
including ABBRA, ABYC, and NFPA. He's found significant support for
his venture from his fellow members. Patricia Kearns, ABBRA executive
director, says, "When it comes to the marine consulting business,
Steve's one of the few 'reality' guys, having walked in the yard and
marina operators' shoes. He's got hard-won, hands-on skills married
to contemporary business thinkingand that's a rarity today. Steve's
broad experience spans many operational and management disciplines.
He will bring boatyard operations up to contemporary business practices
with a combination of in-the-trenches experience and sophisticated business
savvy."
Bunnell established his private consulting service upon
leaving his position as vice president of operations at Wayfarer Marine
in Camden. At Wayfarer, Bunnell oversaw all operations of the major-overhaul
boatyard that encompasses nine acres of storage and repair facilities,
plus sales and brokerage. Prior to that position, Bunnell acted as vice
president and general manager for MacDougalls' Cape Cod Marine Service
in Falmouth, Massachusetts where he managed all yard and construction
operations; as the yardmaster for Crosby Yacht Yard in Osterville, Massachusetts;
and as a yacht broker and customer service manager for Dion's Yacht
Yard in Kittery, Maine. Bunnell has been a member of several community
task forces addressing waterfront issues.
The offices for Bunnell Marine Consulting are located
at 21 Elm Street in Camden. Bunnell can be reached by phone at (207)
